A man’s shop has been robbed of goods worth thousands of Rands.
Mr Getahun Boka Boto (45) of Wolma Supermarket in Extension 5 in Empulelweni was robbed at his shop. He reported to the police that on Saturday, March 12 at about 13:50 three unknown men came to his shop pretending to buy something and the next moment one of them produced a firearm and demanded money.
The other two suspects took a 12,5kg maize meal bag, opened it, and threw the contents out to put the cash in the bag. The other one stood guard at the door. They further took R2 200 in cash, airtime worth R1 650, cigarettes cartons worth R977 and four cell phones.
According to the police report one of the suspects can be indentified by the victim as he was said to be tall and slender and was wearing a white t-shirt at the time of robbery. After the robbery they drove away in a gold coloured Toyota Avanza which did not have number plates. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported and no arrest has been made.
Police are investigating a case of armed robbery.
