Authorities caught a hijacker out after finding the dashboard of the truck to be loose.
On March 31 authorities arrested a hijacker in Lebombo at about 06:50 after the driver of one of the trucks reported it hijacked in the Ogies area at 07:30.
The two trucks were making their way to cross the border into Mozambique.
According to reports the Toyota Hino and Mercedes Benz entered the Lebombo Port of Entry and both drivers entered the office to have their passports stamped. The driver of the Hino returned to his truck and it was verified, and not reported to be stolen however the dashboard was loose.

Officials questioned the driver and he was unable to answer, they then sought out the owner of the truck and traced the vehicle only to discover that it had been hijacked near Ogies the previous night.
As a result the 40-year-old man was arrested, the driver of the Mercedes Benz had fled the area and both trucks were in turn recovered along with their cargo. On contacting the owner of the Mercedes Benz truck, police were informed that he was unaware that the truck had been hijacked.
Both trucks and their loads were estimated to be valued at R5-million.
