Truck hits car, passenger dies

A passenger was killed in a tragic accident on the road towards Bethal when a truck collided into the side of the car.

The accident occurred on Sunday, May 1 at approximately 20:00. Witbank Police Officers on duty received a report about an accident on the road.
When the police officers arrived on scene they noticed that a white truck and a Ford Ikon had collided into each other by the robot near Elpaso.

Mr Daniel Zungu, the driver of the Ford sustained a few injuries, but his passenger was declared dead on scene.
Zungu alleged that the robot was green for him to turn and the truck driver also alleged that the robot was green for him.

The impact on the front of the Fortuner.

In a seperate accident that happened on Sunday morning two people died in the collision between two cars on the N12 near eMalahleni at the Kendal/Balmoral off -ramp.
The two vehicles that were involved in the collision was a Toyota Corolla and a Fortuner.
It’s alleged that the driver of the Toyota was driving on the wrong side of the road as they collided head on.

“When paramedics arrived on the scene they found one car on its roof, badly damaged,” said Mr Pieter Rossouw ER24 spokesperson.

The driver of the car had sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on the scene.
While in the Fortuner, the driver sustained serious injuries and was transported by ER24 to Life Cosmos Hospital for further treatment.

The passenger sustained fatal injuries and was also declared dead on scene.

“The cause of the accident was unknown and local authorities were on the scene to investigate,” said Rossouw.
