Suspect appears in court after killing a man with an axe

Two murder cases were opened at Witbank and Ga-Nala Police Station respectively where on Thursday, April 28 a woman was shot allegedly by her husband. The incident took place at Old Coronation at 01:23. The police report states that the police on duty received a call from radio control informing them of a woman that had a shoulder wound; investigations done on scene show the suspect used a pistol.

On Saturday, May 1 as Ga-Nala police were busy with their duties, they received a report of murder at Mphahane Street in Thubelihle around 02:19. When police arrived at the provided address they found two women and a man who was standing looking at a man who was lying in a pool of blood on the ground.

The police report states that the police questioned them, and the man said that he hit the deceased with an axe in self defence as the deceased attacked him. The police went to his house to look for the axe used in this incident.

It was found lying on top of the table. The 52-year-old suspect appeared at the Kriel Magistrate Court on May 3.
