A 27-year-old woman was robbed in the drive thru of a well known take-away restaurant in eMalahleni and the money from the till was taken.

On Sunday evening, May 15 at 19:30 at the KFC on the Old Middelburg Road, Ms Lillian Mbonani was on duty in the drive thru section of the store.

A silver Volkswagen Polo stopped at the window, there were four people inside the vehicle.
Mbonani took the order from the driver who asked for a 500ml cold drink. She handed the cold drink over to the driver as she did that the driver pulled out a firearm and demanded that she hands over the money from the till.
Being so scared, Mbonani pressed a button or two on the till and the till opened she handed over an amount of R1500 to the driver.

Once the money was handed over the vehicle drove off, no shots were fired, Mbonani was in shock.
After a while a call was made to Witbank Police Station and they attended the scene.

“She is not good, she has not been back to work since the robbery and will only be back on Thursday,” said the Manager on duty wish to stay anonymous.

It’s not the first time that this KFC has been robbed and all the other KFC branches in eMalahleni have also been targeted on different occasions.

“The first robbery took place inside the KFC and the other incident took place on April 14,” continued the Manager on duty.
