She has been keeping count of the cars that have crashed into her wall, and if her memory serves her well Miss Dot Nortje’s wall has been smashed into 14 times by motorists.

She was sleeping in her home at Dora Street and Gordon Road on May 14 when she heard loud bangs from outside.

“When I heard the loud noises, I looked through my blinds and thought to myself not again,” said Nortje.

It was just after 01:00 in the morning when she saw a white Hyundai driven by a man inside her yard.

“I have requested for this area to at least have speed humps so people can be cautious of this bend at the t-junction but nothing has happened. No one has heard my complaints. I have been messaging the municipality from time and time again about this but no one has ever come back to me,” said Nortje.

In 2012 she alleges that she requested for street lights to be erected as she believes that could reduce the number of accidents that occur.

“I am fine and my wall is going to be fixed soon,” said Nortje.

The vehicle was stamped as a write off and was towed off the yard.

“I am tired of being a witness to such tragedies; this must be fixed soon,” concluded Nortje.
