Slippery road causes collision

Before the owner of a newly bought bakkie drove more than 100km it was involved in an accident. Two vehicles and a truck were involved after a diesel spill across the road.
The incident happened on Tuesday evening, May 17 along the Old Middelburg Road towards Middelburg.
Ms Nelly Masanobo was travelling in her silver Toyota Etios and Mr Kgatelo Maitjie was driving his new white Nissan bakkie which he bought on the day.
The truck that was involved in the accident on the Old Middelburg Road on Tuesday evening, May 17 after the diesel spill on the road.
A truck had already slid off the road earlier that evening before the other accident occurred.
Masanobo alleged that she was travelling straight along the road when she noticed that the road was slippery and she also saw there was a truck next to the road.
The white Nissan bakkie that was also involved in the accident on the Old Middelburg Road on Tuesday, May 17.
As she tried to brake to slow down, Maitjie who was behind her also tried to stop but the road was too slippery.
Maitjie then made a left turn and bumped Masanobo.
“I just bought this bakkie today, I have been saving up money for it, but now it’s totally damaged,” said a very sad Maitjie.
The drivers and their passengers didn’t sustain any injuries, the scene was cleared up and the road was washed to get the diesel off the road.
