A truck driver was hijacked of his vehicle after stopping for a vehicle posing as a police vehicle.
The hijacking took place close to the N4 split towards Johannesburg on May 18 at about 17:45.
The driver of the truck reported to police that he had passed the Middleburg Toll Plaza and was heading to Germiston from Nelspruit when two cars drove up behind him and hooted at him as if he had done something wrong.
As he neared the N4 split a white car with blue lights approached his truck and he opted to stop alongside the road.
He was approached by a man who asked him why he didn’t stop, at this time two men approached the passenger side of his cab and allegedly used a device to shock his passenger and then shocked him.
Both the driver and his passenger found themselves in a field near Ogies on waking up later that evening at about 02:00.
“Truck drivers are advised not to stop alongside the road and rather to drive to the nearest place of safety or the nearest police station,” said Capt Eddie Hall, Witbank Police Spokesperson.
