A woman was left stranded in a field after being robbed and raped on her way back from work.
This tragic event occurred on Friday, June 3 as she was walking on Bassoon Street in Tasbet Park.
The 37-year-old was approached by two men who forced her into a black Polo. According to a police report the incident occurred around 18:30. The report further states that the passenger allegedly pointed her with a firearm and dragged her in the car. They drove off with her hands tied with a cloth and face covered.
When they got to a field they untied her, took her phone, tablet and bank card. The driver left her with the other suspect to go withdraw money, but fortunately there was no money on her card.
The other suspect who was left with the victim allegedly undressed and raped her. When the driver returned he picked up the man and drove off. She however managed to walk to the street where she received help from a taxi driver. The man transported her home to pick up her husband where they both headed to Witbank Police Station to open a rape and armed robbery case.
Here are tips you can use to make sure you are safe and protected at all times: Avoid isolation rather walk in groups, scream and carry a whistle that you can blow or carry pepper spray and report the matter to the police immediately whether you can identify the person or not.
