Two security guards were busy patrolling the area around a well known shopping centre when they were held up.
Mr Ronny Kahute and Mr Hilary Matshika arrived on duty at 18:00 on Friday, May 27 while working in Gordon Road. The following morning at about 02:30, Kahute was performing his clock point check in.
When he was on his way to the third point at the back, he noticed an unknown man lying against the wall.
The unknown suspect approached Kahute, held him up, then grabbed him and he was told if he tries anything funny, he would be shot.
As the suspect pointed a firearm at Kahute, the suspect took the clock stick, hand radio, panic button and cell phone.
The suspect asked Kahute where the second security guard was and he was standing by the Automatic Teller Machine (ATM).
Kahute and Matshika were tied up with cable ties as the suspect left the scene in a red BMW which was parked next to the trees.
The supervisor came to check up on the guards after he didn’t get a message that they had clocked in.
On the same day at 06:30 Mr Gamalakhe Mthabela alleged that he was driving his truck on the N4 highway towards Pretoria along side another truck.
While he was driving another vehicle drove in front of the truck, the truck stopped and two unknown suspects armed with firearms climbed out of the vehicle.
Mthabela was robbed of all his personal belongings.
