Mr Zweli Mahlangu can testify of his excitement when his car was recovered after it was stolen in town. On Wednesday, June 8, at approximately 09:00, he was at a business getting work done.
“I left my car in the parking lot and upon my return, it was nowhere to be seen. I realised that it was stolen, in less than an hour. It is a company vehicle and I contacted my friend to investigate the matter. He is a police officer at another station and works in the stolen vehicles department. They investigated the matter and later drove to Mamelodi, Pretoria, where my Mazda 323, was recovered. They also stumbled upon a stolen Toyota Run X in the process,” Zweli said.
The vehicle of Mr Zweli Mahlangu that was stolen on Wednesday, June 8 and recovered on Friday, June 10.
He also said that the suspects shot at the police officials, but only hit the vechicle, but ran away after the shots were fired. Zweli said that the car was taken to Pretoria West, where he fetched the car on Friday, June 10.
“Upon return, the car had no spare wheel, no battery and no wheel spanner. The dashboard was broken, but at least police were able to recover the company vehicle,” he also stated.
Another incident claimed a white Nissan Sentra, in Beatty Street.
“I walked into the company, realised that I had left some of my documentation in the car and when I got outside, my car was gone,” another victim said.
On the same day, at 12:40, the victim stated that her car got stolen in a matter of three to five minutes.
“I immediately contacted the police, they were very helpful and fast. The car has a cracked front headlight, one of the mags are chipped and the back bumper has a patch. The car did not have much petrol in, so whoever stole the car must have stopped somewhere to refill the tank,” she concluded.
