Five homes in and around eMalahleni were broken into the last week and most of the cases occurred early in the morning.

On Saturday, August 20 at 03:00 Mr Morgan Moya alleged that he was sleeping at his home in Klarinet.

“When I went to sleep everything in the house was in order, all the doors were locked and the windows were closed,” said Moya.

He woke up with the sound of a bang; he then noticed that two unknown men were standing in his bedroom.
Moya recalls that one of the suspects was armed with a firearm, he then instructed Moya to sleep and not to get up.

“I lifted my head off the pillow that’s when the suspect fired a shot through the wall and told me to cover my head with the blanket,” said a terrified Moya.

The suspects then demanded money from him; he told them that he did not have any cash inside the house.
Instead the suspects took a Samsung cell phone, Blackberry cell phone, a mixer, a microphone, a Dixon, Plasma Television and a tablet.

Before they left they tied him up with rope around his hands and they used his shirt to tie his feet together.
Now that he was unable to move, the suspect left the house as Moya kept on shouting for help.
Later after someone came to his aid, he walked around his home and found that the suspects had entered the house through a window.

Just a couple of streets away from the first incident in Klarinet the second house breaking occurred 15 minutes later.

Ms Surprise Pookgoadi, alleged that she heard a noise of a window shattering. When she woke up to see what was going on she noticed broken glass pieces next to her bed.

She then ran to her father’s room to wake him up and tran back to her room to fetch her child.
That’s when she noticed two unknown men in her bedroom, she held onto her child guarding her from the men.
The men opened the wardrobe and took two handbags and they left through the window they had broken to gain entry to the house.

On Friday, August 19 at 00:15 a resident in Extension 10 alleged that he was sleeping at home alone.

“Everything was in order in the house,” he said.

When he woke up he noticed an unknown man standing next to his bed. He switched on his bedside lamp, to look at the person standing next to him.

He then noticed that the suspect was armed with a knife, he demanded that he handed over all the money he had.

“He asked me for my firearm and I told him that I don’t own a firearm,” he continued.

The suspect then took R1 200 cash and a cell phone.

Two of them were armed with firearms; they demanded that she opened the gate.
They took the gate keys and opened the gate, that’s when a white bakkie entered the yard.
After that two unknown men jumped off the back of the bakkie and went straight into the house.
The domestic worker was pushed into the bedroom and they tied her hands with cable ties, then they covered her head with a blanket and closed the door.

The suspects went through the whole house; they took three computers and a television.
On Monday, August 15 at 19:45 in Muller Street a homeowner alleged that he was at home when he heard noises at the door.

At this stage the dogs were barking, he went to the window to investigate what was going on outside.
By the time he had done this an unknown man armed with a knife was already standing inside the house.
The suspect demanded that he was looking for the television, while the suspect was busy taking the television, the homeowner called his fiancé to come back.

It’s alleged that the suspect drove away in a Golf, no one sustained any injuries.

“The burglaries are not targeting one area, police thank the community in the prevention of burglaries by notifying the police or neighbours,” said Sergeant David Ratau, spokesperson from Witbank Police Station.
