Police continue to keep the streets of eMalahleni drugs free by patrolling and following tip-offs that might lead to the arrest of suspects that commit these crimes. On Wednesday, August 31 police received information of a motor vehicle at Klipfontein carrying drugs.

A dog was bought by the dog unit to sniff for any illegal substances that might be in the car. This follows after a man was arrested for drug dealing on August 31 at Klipfontein.
The arrest was all panned out like an action movie as when the police spotted the car at Opperman Street around 14:00 it was stopped and within minutes the arrest was made.
Inside the silver Mitsubishi SUV was the husband, wife, their son and a friend. It is alleged that it is the man’s third arrest under the same offence.
The first person ordered by police to step outside was the driver of the vehicle who is the man that is alleged to be the drug dealer. He had his hands tied back with a cable tie as his car was searched, soon after the rest of the passengers were also requested to get out and a full search of the vehicle emerged.
Minutes later the dog unit arrived and a dog was brought to sniff inside the car for any possible illegal substances.
Both the police and the dog found nothing inside the man’s vehicle. In all of this the friend who was driving with the family repeatedly said he was not aware his friend could be in possession of drugs.
The police then searched the 29-year-old mother and two small black plastics were found.
The mother and child were driven to their home for police to search further for any illegal substances but nothing was found in the house. In the meantime her husband was taken to Witbank Police Station.

A crowd surrounded the scene where most of the people were angered when they heard what the husband and wife had been arrested for. One of the people said he was not at ease at all about drugs.
“These things are bad for our children; I know this as I am speaking from experience. My son is a University graduate but you would disagree if you had to see him as he is an addict. I strongly feel that these substances should be banned from our streets for the safety of our children,” emphasised the man.
The man’s first court appearance was on September 1 where the small plastics were sent to forensics to determine what kind of drugs they are. When the friend came to hear his case in court he too was arrested and the mother is out on bail. The next court appearance was on September 7 for a bail application.
