A murder took place on the outskirts of Ga-Nala Sunday evening.
At about 21:30 police were contacted in regards to a stabbing of a middle aged woman at Albion Farm.
On their arrival at the farm police found the lifeless body of the woman, she was pronounced dead by an Mpumalanga health practitioner.
A neighbour heard the quarrel between the couple and saw the suspect running away, police put out an alert of the incident and asked community members to report the man’s possible whereabouts.
That same evening Det Sgt Vusi Ntuli and Det Sgt Sanyana Mtsweni headed out to Dunusa Farm, close to Van Dyksdrift, they had received reports from the community that the suspect was in the area.
On their arrival they found the 43-year-old man and took him into custody and charged him with murder.
The man was set to appear before the Kriel Magistrates Court on October 4 facing the charge of murder – court outcome could not be obtained in time for print.
“We like to thank the community of Albion as well as Dunusa farms for cooperating with police and providing the information that lead to the suspect’s arrest. Together we can squeeze crime to zero,” said Sgt Yster Shabangu, Kriel Police spokesperson.
