Another speedster put behind bars

A 35-year-old woman felt the long arm of the law when he was caught out doing 163km/h along the N4 Highway.
Police were out patrolling the N4 Highway on March 2 when their onboard camera pickup up a speeding vehicle they gave chase and flashed the vehicle down. The vehicle driven by the 35-year-old woman was a Volkswagen Golf 6.
Once police caught up to the vehicle the woman was taken into custody and her vehicle impounded.
This was the second speedster arrested. On February 3, a 38-year-old man was arrested for doing 169km/h along the N4 Highway.
Capt Eddie Hall, of Witbank Police communications stresses the law that in terms of the National Road Traffic Act, 1989 and its regulations the speed limits are 60 km/h on a public road within an urban area, 100 km/h on public road outside an urban area which is not a freeway, and 120 km/h on every freeway.
“We again warn the public not to speed in town or on the highways. Exceeding the speed limit is a punishable offence and exceeding it at more than 40km/h will result in your immediate arrest,” said Capt Hall.
Other traffic offences that will results in your immediate arrest include driving without a licence; driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs; failing to wear a seat belt; using an unroadworthy vehicle; using an unregistered vehicle or having an expired licence disc; overtaking on a barrier line; driving though a red traffic light and not having number plates on each end of the vehicle.
