Hlaudi visits Bishop Dununu Ministries for their youth month service

The former SABC Chief Operating Officer (COO) visited the church for their youth month service with his children Reamohetswe and Lerato on Sunday, June 18.

“No one has changed the SABC like myself, people of South Africa know this,” said Hlaudi Motsoeneng during his visit at Bishop Dununu Ministries (BDM).

The congregation offered prayers for Motsoeneng and wished him well with his life after the outcome of the disciplinary hearing. He was dismissed from the public broadcaster due to misconduct and breaking the terms of his employment contract. Motsoeneng faced disciplinary action after holding his own news conference where he criticised the parliamentary inquiry into the SABC.

Motsoeneng thanked the people of Emalahleni for being there for him and not deserting him during this tough time.

“As long as I’m alive I am going to make sure that I cooperate with various Bishops and Pastors so that we can contribute in changing the lives of those living in South Africa,” said Motsoeneng.

Even though the interim board told Parliament last month that the 90% local music quota cost the SABC more than R200 million, Motseoneng still supports local music more than international music. He complimented the church choir’s beautiful voices saying this is exactly the kind of music needed which is 90% local music.

“Why do we believe Beyonce is better than our choir at this church,” questioned Motsoeneng.

He encouraged the congregation to play our own music.

“Bishop, I want to see this choir on TV, from there they must tour the world. We must build a South Africa where we can trust each other and believe in each other,” said Motsoeneng.

Motsoeneng says he is using the brain and talent given to him by God to turn his life around. He is not only changing his life but other people’s lives as well.

“People saying I ruined the SABC. When I was there, there was money, employees were getting paid. Muvhango and Generations staff had salary issues but when I got there I solved that problem saying to the employer that people had to be paid just like any regular worker,” said Motsoeneng.

Motsoeneng alluded to what Bishop Dununu Msibi spoke about, being the history of youth month. Motsoeneng encouraged young people to appreciate history but write their own freedom charter. Young people must write what they would like to achieve because the future of South Africa is in their hands.

Motsoeneng said he cannot be unemployed when God is with him. At this moment his children are his priority.

“I am part of men that are taking good care their children. I love my daughters and son Lebohang. I believe not all men are bad. There are still good men out there,” said Motsoeneng.

He agreed with what John Majola, one of the church members preached about earlier under the theme “Where is my father?”

As he said this he asked for his children to stand up so the congregation can see them. The congregation gave the Motsoeneng family a warm round of applause.

“Every person must have Ubuntu, church leaders let us pray for South Africa,” concluded Motsoeneng.
