Ramutsa paid the ultimate price on Monday, July 24 when he tried to restore electricity to an area in Vosman which had no electricity since the previous day.

Ms Nokubonga Ramuntsa is devastated and she can hardly stand up. As emotions tear through her body she mutters her husband’s name over and over.

She said she has no idea what had happened when Ramuntsa tried to help friends and neighbours in Steve Tshwete Street in Ext 16.

Mr Mongezi Jele said he can not get the picture of Ramuntsa’s lifeless body out of his head.


Mr Whiteman Jele points to the transformer where Mr Jimmy Ramuntsa (35) was electrocuted on Monday, July 24.

“We were without electricity since Sunday. I saw a group of men underneath a transformer and thought the municipality is here to fix the problem. My joy was short lived as the man who went up a ladder and tried to connect the electricity was electrocuted,” he said.

Jele said everything went silent for a moment then when everyone realised that Ramuntsa is dead, all chaos broke loose.

“I took a long wooden stick and manoeuvred the body loose. Once the body was on the ground we looked for signs of life, but there was none…”
