A phone call came through to one of the SACCW responders by a concerned resident of Ben Fleur area who spotted a suspect entering a vacant home. She further said that she could hear the suspect vandalising the vacant house from inside, probably to gather copper pipes.

A Highveld Park operational member responded to the scene where he, along with a member of the public from the area, caught the suspect red handed still inside the premises. The suspect was apprehended and SAPS was dispatched.

Members from the Community Police Forum (CPF) from Sector 3, Sub Sector 7 also assisted on the scene. The suspect was immediately recognised from a previous scene relating to cable theft in which he also was involved.


The alleged copper thief that was caught on Monday, March 5 by SACCW.

SACCW Witbank had managed to apprehend the same suspect twice in a short period. SAPS were advised of this on arrival. The suspect was arrested and transported by SAPS.
