There were two accidents on Tuesday, March 20 where drunk drivers were involved.

On the R555 at about 20:00 two vehicles, one a white Nissan and the other a white Peugeot collided. Both drivers were asked for their licences. The driver of the Peugeot allegedly couldn’t provide his licence and stated that it was stolen or lost.

It is believed that he was also under the influence of alcohol. The police on duty decided to take him to the hospital for blood tests. The driver of the Peugeot was arrested for driving under the influence.

It is alleged that earlier, on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 20 a man was driving his blue Volkswagen Polo towards Klipfontein. It is believed that a white Nissan Juke sped into the Polo. The man opened his window to ask the driver of the Nissan if she was aware that she bumped into him. The woman was allegedly drunk and shouted at him calling him names.

The Witbank SAPS managed to arrest another allegedly drunk driver on Thursday, March 22. It is alleged that while officially on duty a police officer noticed a Volkswagen Golf driving in an unlawful way.

He stopped the Golf and as suspected the driver was believed to be under the influence of alcohol. He got taken to the hospital and after the tests confirmed that he was under the influence he was arrested.
