The accident occurred on the N4 highway on Tuesday, April 3 at approximately 10:30.

It is still unclear how the accident happened in broad daylight; it’s alleged that the Hyundai H100 bakkie collided into the back of the coal truck that was travelling in the slow lane on the highway.
The driver and the passenger were trapped inside the seriously mangled cab of the vehicle.

Fire fighters started to cut out the driver and passenger of the vehicle. Paramedics on scene climbed into the cab and started working on the driver and passenger, until they were able to be moved from the wreckage.
Both the driver and passenger were stabilized on scene and they were transported to eMalahleni Private Hospital.
On Tuesday, March 27 two cases of reckless and negligent driving were opened at Witbank Police Station.

The first incident occurred at 06:50 when police were patrolling in Main Street; they received information about an accident from the control room where a state vehicle was involved.
A silver Jeep drove into the back of a state vehicle, both vehicles were damaged.
An accident report case was opened, nobody sustained any injuries.

Later that same day at 15:30 police officers on patrol received a call about an accident that occurred at the OR Tambo and Watermeyer Street split.
A Mazda Drifter and a white Nissan NP200 bakkie were involved in the collision, nobody sustained any injuries.
It’s alleged that the driver of the Mazda fled the scene of the accident.
