
As was the case from the previous court appearance of the four accused of kidnapping and murder of the Shabani children, the court was filled to capacity.

The four accused are: traditional healer Thokozani Msibi, Brilliant Mkhize, Themba Thubane and Knowledge Mhlanga. They are charged for kidnapping and murder of 13 year old Gabisile Shabani and Welcome Ngwenya who was 15 months old.
The court heard evidence led by the state prosecutor Mr Fannie Mavundla of how body parts, which are believed to belong to Gabsile who was living with albinism, were found in a shack in Kromdraai. One Mfanasibi Gamedze was also believed to be involved in the murder and kidnapping case. Gamedze, a Swazi national is said to have been arrested in Swaziland.

The court heard how Gabisile was forced to drink a mixture of brake fluid and forced to smoke dagga. Gabisile’s body was found in a shallow grave in Cullinan minus some of her body parts. The missing body parts were the arms, heart, lungs, vagina, uterus, ovaries, some abdominal organs and the bladder. The head, one arm and part of the vagina were found.

Thubane and Mhlanga approached Msibi to prepare muthi for them so that their tent and chairs business could flourish. The two are also out on bail for a fraud case in KwaMhlanga. Letters written by the two apologising to the Shabani and the Ngwenya families were also read in court.
The case was postponed to Monday, April 16 for bail application.
