
The hi-jacking and car theft industry is booming in eMalahleni.
On Tuesday, March 22 a man parked his vehicle, a Volkswagen Polo, in Louise Street, Del Judor.
It is alleged that all the doors and windows were locked and closed. Upon his arrival back to where he parked he started to look for his vehicle and was shocked to find out it had been stolen. The car has not been found yet and no arrests have been made.

Another man found himself to be the target of a hi-jacking scheme. On Friday, March 16 a man stopped next to the road to urinate. It is alleged that he parked next to the N4 near the off ramp to Mandela Road.
It is believed that two males approached him and asked if he was going to Pretoria. The man allegedly told them that he was going to Johannesburg, which was when they pulled out a firearm and threatened to shoot him.
The suspects got into the bakkie, a Toyota Hilux and drove off with the victim still inside. It is alleged that they stopped just outside Delmas. One of the suspects tied his hands and feet with a cell phone charger.
They left him there and drove off. No arrests have been made yet
