Please help Frans

At first glance Frans Brunette looks like just another 40-year old man, that is until he turns and you see the gaping open wound on his left cheek.

About a year ago a sore erupted from his face and he consulted with a local doctor who sent him to Steve Bantu Biko Hospital in Pretoria.
The hospital specialist recognised this sore as Basalt Cancer and said that he had to wait for an open spot for surgery.

This has been the ongoing process without success, for the last 12 months now and the sore has grown into a lump in his face.
This lump, the size of a tennis ball is very unhealthy, painful and smelly to such an extent that people tend to treat him as leprous wherever he goes.

During last month another sore appeared just above this other one and also has to be removed. As his hand tries to cover the lump a tear forms in his eyes.

“I have cancer. It has affected my marriage, my family life and my work,” he said.

But it did not affect his smile. Frans gave a little chuckle when he was asked what he does for a living.

“I am a mechanic. I fix cars. I need someone to fix my face.”

With the help of local businessman Mr Piet Cromhout, Frans consulted privately with specialists at Wilgers Hospital.
They are prepared to operate on Frans on May 23.

But Frans needs a little nudge from the community. He will also be out of working possibilities of approximately two months which means no income at all. His current living expenses total to an amount of R24 750 per month. For two months this amounts to R49 500.
He also has to do after care and take prescribed medication and nutrition which could be a further R7 500.

Frans urgently needs R202 571.28 to make this operation happen plus the extras as mentioned above which brings the total to an amount of R259 571.28.
