3 accused of Lynnville vigilante murder remain in custody

The Lynnville murder bail hearing was postponed due to a power outage and one of the accused requesting legal aid.

The three accused in the murder of Lynnville resident Vusimuzi Radebe (40) will remain in custody after the Emalahleni Magistrate’s Court postponed the matter to October 16 for the continuation of bail proceedings.

Nkosinathi Samkelo Masinga (31), Queenath Skosana (39) and Lassy Phahlamohlala (42) appeared in court on October 14 in connection with the death of Radebe, who died after an alleged vigilante attack in Lynnville on September 19.

Power outage disrupts hearing

The trio’s previous court appearance on October 12 was interrupted when a power outage at the Emalahleni Magistrate’s Court brought proceedings to a halt.

Before the disruption, the court heard the bail applications Phahlamohlala and Masinga, who were legally represented. During the same appearance, Skosana requested the assistance of a Legal Aid attorney and did not proceed with her bail application.

When the matter returned to court on October 14, it was postponed to October 16 to allow Skosana an opportunity to submit her bail application.

Victim attacked by mob

The accused are facing a murder charge arising from the death of Radebe, who was allegedly assaulted by a mob. According to the police, officers responded to reports of alleged vigilantism and found him lying on the ground with visible injuries. He was declared dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
