The bad side of Social Media
We eat, we sleep, we check social media we repeat, and without realising that it isn’t real it’s all just for show.

Social media has good and bad features. We use it to communicate and share thoughts with friends and loved ones, but it is also used for the bad and the ugly such as bullying, scamming, threatening, stalking and harm to others. Emotional scarring lasts a long time and in some cases it never goes away.
Did you know you can never delete your Facebook account? You can deactivate it but it will always be there and hackers love inactive accounts.
“Stranger Danger”- take it seriously. Remember it is very hard to tell friends from foes online. Many people on the internet are not who you think they are.
“Check in at home, on the couch, with popcorn watching Star Wars,” in regards to privacy, social media is encouraging people to be more public about their private lives.
This can land you in great danger, why would you want everyone to know your exact whereabouts? If your friends and family can see it, so can the rest of the world.
Social media can cause mental health problems. Research indicate that people who spend two hours or more on social media daily are more likely to experience mental health problems like Psychological Distress.
You also need to be careful about the pictures that you post and share, for example partying pictures where illegal activities are involved.
Before you post any pictures on any social media platform ask yourself these questions: Would I be comfortable if my future boss sees these pictures? Am I ok with my grandmother seeing this? Can someone that doesn’t like me use it against me? Remember what everything goes onto the internet stays on the internet.
“You are responsible for everything you post and everything you post will be a reflection of you”- Social Media.
