The owner rushed out of the house and cried for help

A house went up in flames in Vilakazi Street. On Saturday, June 16 at about 17:00 a lady was in her bedroom when she heard a noise.
“My mother quickly rushed to the sunroom and that was when she saw the flames,” expained Petunia Skosana, the daughter of the house owner.
The owner rushed out of the house and cried for help.
“My mother called my brother and told him to come back because she sent him to go and buy bread.”

Members of the community joined the family to try and stop the fire but most of the house had already gone up in flames.
“My brother’s room was just ashes.”
From all of the heat the geyser blasted. The fire brigade was called but unfortunately the fire already damaged the house.
