With the 16 Days of Activism for no violence against women and Children approaching, Emalahleni Housing Company (EHC) will be hosting a fitness and self-defence workshop.
This is happening on November 24 at Highveld Mall’s Spur entrance. The event will start at 09:00. Registration will take place between 08:00 and 08:45.
The 16 Days of Activism for no violence against women and children is an international awareness-raising campaign.
It takes place every year from November 25, which is international day for the elimination of violence against women, to 10 December which is international Human Rights Day. The period includes Universal Children’s Day and World AIDS Day. South Africa adopted the campaign in 1998 as one of the intervention strategies towards creating a society free of violence.
The campaign continues to raise awareness amongst South Africans about the negative impact of violence against women and children on all members of the community.
The workshop is being held in collaboration wellness coach, Tanya Labuschagne and self-defence instructor, Juandré Fivaz.
By hosting a workshop like this, EHC hopes to encourage wellness amongst men and women of all ages and to empower them with basic self-defence skills which are so important considering the numerous incidents of violent crime taking place in our country.
Entry is free but space is limited, so book early to avoid disappointment!
