Criminals are Christmas shopping in Ben Fleur
We all know that December is silly season; we max-out our credit cards to show our loved ones that we care, we feast on gammon and roast until we’re ill, we sleep until noon and only wake up to have a beer – and apparently some individuals see it as the ideal time to expropriate goodies from homes in Reyno Ridge and Ben Fleur ‘without compensation’.

On Tuesday, December 4, the Ben Fleur-Reyno Ridge area saw two terrible acts of criminal activity.
The first incident occurred at a house in Goeiehoop Street.
The residents’ domestic worker was busy doing the laundry when she suddenly heard a loud bang coming from the direction of the front door.
She rushed to the entryway to see what had occurred, but was met by a group of unknown men who had forcefully bashed in the door.
The men immediately asked the woman where the residents kept their money, but the domestic worker refused to divulge the requested information.

The unknown men proceeded to assault the domestic worker grievously, tying her up with a belt thereafter and continuing to ransack the home.
The domestic worker was able to wriggle out of her bondage and ran outside, screaming for help. The home owner arrived and took stock of the damage. The criminals managed to get away with household items to the value of approximately R200 000.
Meanwhile in Asbestos Street a lady made a quick trip to the shops, as one does during silly season, expecting to return to her home and to find it as she left it; unfortunately, it was not to be.
Upon arriving home the woman realized that the lock around her gate had been broken off, resulting in it being ajar. The woman immediately knew what must have occurred and called the SACCW.
The thieves made off with approximately R50 000 worth of goods.
Residents of Reyno Ridge and Ben Fleur are urged to remain vigilant and to take any possible further steps to ensure their, and their belongings’ safety this Christmas season.
