Problems at Pine Ridge Combined School

Some parents claimed that they were told that their children have already secure a place

Some parents complained about problems they encountered at Pine Ridge Combined School.

Some parents claimed that they were told that their children have already secure a place only later to be told that their application forms were missing.

Some said they were told to come back after a few days but only to be told that they must wait for the School Governing Body (SGB) to sort some of the matters.

The parents also said some have now moved to the recently developed Siyanqoba and they cannot find spaces in the nearby schools and only Pine Ridge and Coronation Secondary School were their alternatives.

Some say they applied for their children last year and they were promised a space but now the school was not keeping to its promise.

Different other issues were raised by the parents.

Mr Cassim Mhlongo of the National Association School Governing Bodies (NASGB) explained to the parents how a School Management Team (SMT) works which is in charge of enrolment in schools.

He also said they were aware of the problems faced by the children and they were trying their best to help them, he also added to say that the Department of Education have made an undertaking that all children need to be in class.

An SGB member of the school addressed the parents accompanied by police.

He indicated to the parents that they were trying to sort out the problems and asked to be given time to investigate some of the issues.

He added to say that they do understand their frustrations and they will do everything in their power to help them.
