A corpse in the corn

According to a family member the last time that they spoke to Shongwe was on the same day at about 11:00

To hear about your daughter’s death is one thing, but to find her lifeless body is another thing.

It can permanently damage a family member emotionally.

On Friday, March 8 at approximately 09:00 at Kendal Plot 27 (Ogies) family members found their daughter, Ms Sbongile Shongwe (32), dead inside the cornfield with bruises on her neck, scratches on her stomach and blood next to her right ear.

According to a family member the last time that they spoke to Shongwe was on the same day at about 11:00.

Shongwe allegedly told her sister that she was going to Ogies to withdraw money.

Her handbag laid scattered on the soil in the cornfields.

She left with a friend.

From 11:00 onwards, the family tried to get hold of Shongwe but her cellphone was off.

They knew something was wrong and went out looking for her that evening.

During their search Shongwe’s family members came across her lifeless body.

A medic from ER24 declared the woman dead, a case was opened at Ogies SAPS and the case is still being investigated.
