About three years ago WITBANK NEWS did an article on the bylaws of advertising posters.

The article stated that it is illegal placing any advertisements under various rules and regulations.

“Any advertising structure or advertisement must be to the satisfaction of the Emalahleni Local Municipality.”

The bylaws for posters includes the following; A poster may not exceed a size of 600mm x 1 m in area, no political party may erect a poster without first obtaining the written approval of the municipality, a poster may not be attached or affixed to a road traffic sign or a signal, wall, column or post of a veranda or balcony, electricity box, tree or a bridge and lastly the poster may not be illuminated or animated.
