Two suspects were arrested for being in possession of a stolen firearm with nine rounds.
On April 17 the national news of 30 000 firearms that were destroyed by the police broke out and only a few days after this good news another stolen firearm was found by a resident from eMalahleni.
This success arrest all started when Ms Elizabeth Devar started noticing that there is stuff going missing in her house.
She confronted her domestic worker on the items that were missing and she denied that she ever saw this items.
As she was sleeping in at her workplace the owner asked her to check her handbag and search her room.
While the owner searched the room, she found a firearm wrapped in a pants, hidden away.

“While my mother searched the room the domestic worker in the meanwhile must have contacted her boyfriend telling him what was happening as she said to my mother that the firearm belonged to him,” Ms Devars’ daughter, Zoey Devar said.
No one knew that the ‘owner’ of this firearm was already in the family’s home and was hiding away behind one of the doors in the house.
It was then when Zoey immediately contacted the SACCW (South African Community Crime Watch) to come assist.
“I did not know what the suspect planned to do, so I rather called for back up. The responders came within 10 minutes and detained the suspects and called Witbank SAPS to come and make the arrest,” Zoey added.
Both of the suspects were arrested for being in possession of a stolen firearm after SAPS confirmed that the firearm was stolen in the early years of 2000.
According to Police Minister Bheki Cele around two-thirds of firearms were surrendered in South Africa and the rest were procured through the actions of police.
