Solomon’s brush with death

Nkosi was then shoved into the back seat of his double cab Legend 45 bakkie

The old ode of one’s life flashing before their eyes when they encounter a brush with death is one we are familiar with and may even regard it as a cliché.

This cliché saying was anything but that on the night of May 15, at around 22:00 when a man was shot and kidnapped before being robbed of his vehicle at Klarinet Ext 4.

Speaking to WITBANK NEWS Mr Solomon Nkosi rehashed his brief encounter with what could have been his end.

“I was smoking while standing outside my bakkie just opposite the new garage in Ext 4,” he said. He continued to say that is when he noticed two males walking towards his direction, “without saying anything to me they just shot at me twice and forced me to lie down.”

Nkosi was then shoved into the back seat of his double cab Legend 45 bakkie, in the backseat one of the two guys sat with him and instructed him to stay down as to not see where they were going and the other guy drove them to their destination.

“We drove up to another car where they seemed to discuss their plan further with the guys we came in contact with. They decided they should move from where they were to a different spot. They ended up stopping behind Paxton Prison and that’s where they disconnected the car’s tracking system,” he said.

After they had the vehicles’ tracker disabled, Nkosi was thrown outside the car and told to walk away.

He said “as I was walking away, they fired another shot into the air and they drove away.”

Along with the car which they managed to get away with, Nkosi was robbed of his two cell phones and money he had with him.

Although he does not remember much about the appearance of the two males, he said they communicated with each other in Tsonga.

On Monday May 20, Nkosi was contacted by police in Brits to inform him that his bakkie has been found.

“I was informed by the police that the bakkie has been found around Brits and I should go identify it.”

Above everything else Nkosi is glad to have lived to tell this tale.
