Suspect arrested for possession of R9 million worth of mandrax on N12 close to eMalahleni

SAPS pulled the vehicle off the road and searched it, finding 10 plastic bags filled with mandrax in the vehicle's boot

A man appeared in Witbank Magistrate Court this morning after mandrax worth R9 million was found in the boot of his car.

The suspect was spotted on The N12 highway driving a Mercedes Benz on Wednesday, March 4.

He caught the eye of Witbank SAPS on routine patrol on the highway when he raised suspicion as he accelerated and then reduced speed continuously.

SAPS pulled the vehicle off the road and searched it, finding 10 plastic bags filled with mandrax in the vehicle’s boot.

The 52-year old man was arrested and the drugs sent to a laboratory to verify which drugs it was.

The man admitted to bringing the drugs from Mozambique.
