Emalahleni Imbizo called off
Traffic law enforcement officers to immediately suspend the usage of breathalyzers on the drivers suspected of drunk driving

Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Ms. Gabisile Shabalala has announced that the Public Participation Programme (Imbizo) that was scheduled to take place in Emalahleni has been called off until further notice.
The MEC made the announcement following the call by President Cyril Ramaphosa last night that as part of addressing the Covid 19 outbreak, all gatherings of more than 100 people should be prohibited.
The Imbizo is part of the departmental programmes to deal with crime in the area and to further mobilize for communities’ participation in government’s crime prevention initiatives.
The MEC has also called on the traffic law enforcement officers to immediately suspend the usage of breathalyzers on the drivers suspected of drunk driving.
She however cautioned motorists that drunk drivers will still be brought to book.
She has also pleaded with all the stakeholders to ensure there is compliance with the directives as issued by Predident Ramahosa in the wake of the Covid 19 epidemic.
“We are appealing to all our communities to comply with the urgent measures taken in order to curb the further spread of the disease.”
“We remain resolute that working together during this time, the war on Corona Virus will be won.”
“However, we are appealing for calm in our communities as the government was doing all in it’s to normalize the situation.”
