Witbank Police are on the trail of four men suspected to be involved in a string of business robberies.
Four businesses were the targets of these robbers on the very same day just minutes apart from each other.
On Friday, March 6 four businesses in eMalahleni got robbed.
All four of these businesses were robbed between 08:00 and 11:00 on this day.
The first robbery took place at 08:00 at a local tuck-shop.
It is alleged by the shop assistant that was on duty that morning that two men entered the shop pretending to be customers.
One of them allegedly pulled out a gun and pointed it towards the shop assistant.
The other one demanded money and cigarettes.
After the two took what they wanted, they jumped into a vehicle that was waiting outside and they sped off.
The second business was hit at 08:25. It was also a tuck-shop.
“I saw two men walking into the shop and then I knew they were the ones that robbed me last time as well, so I started to run to the bathroom but then the one pulled out a gun,” the shop owner explained.
Allegedly the one suspect then demanded money and started to body search the shop owner.
The suspect then found an undisclosed amount of cash on the shop owner’s body and took it.
The other suspect made his way over to the till and took cash from the till as well.
The suspects then got into a grey car that was waiting outside and sped off.
At about 08:30 the next shop was targeted.
“I was about to open the shop when an old lady came in to buy something, while I was assisting her two males came walking in. One had a gun,” the shop owner started to explain.
Allegedly the suspect with the gun fired a shot into the ground and ordered everyone to stand still.
The suspects then stole money as well as cell phones from the shop.
The two suspects also got into a silver car that was waiting outside.
At 10:45 the last shop was robbed for the day.
Allegedly the shop owner was attacked by two male suspects, one also had a gun.
One of the suspects removed an undisclosed amount of money from the victim’s body as well as his cell phone.
The two suspects then ran away.
No arrests have been made so far but police are investigating the cases.
“We do suspect that it is the same four suspects that robbed all of these shops,” concluded Captain Eddie Hall.
