Life Cosmos Hospital changes visiting hours as part of precautionary safety measures

Please phone the hospital to check for updated visiting times

At Life Cosmos Hospital the well-being of our patients, staff, doctors, and visitors is of paramount importance to us and we are committed to creating a safe environment in support of infection prevention and control.

“We have already put into action several key plans to minimise the spread of COVID-19. This includes the provision of hand sanitisers and a brief verbal travel history and wellness and health check before entering our premises,” said Dr Charl van Loggerenberg, general manager Emergency Medicine, Life Healthcare.

As part of these precautionary safety measures and to reduce the foot traffic within Life Cosmos Hospital, the hospital would like to announce that the following measures have been implemented:

Visiting hours: Visiting hours has been restricted to one hour per day, from 16:00 – 17:00.

Number of visitors: The number of visitors permitted during visiting hours is one per patient, per indicated visiting time slot.

For the safety of our patients, visitors, employees and healthcare practitioners, please note that indicated visiting time slots may be amended at any time based on COVID-19 developments.

Please phone the hospital to check for updated visiting times.

“In addition to the above, we request that no children visit the hospital unless it is an emergency, as children have an under-developed immune system. Persons over the age of 60 or who are immune-compromised must also avoid visiting patients at Life Cosmos Hospital until further notice.”

As per the management of any other infections, Life Cosmos Hospital has a team of dedicated infection prevention specialists who are experienced and qualified healthcare workers and have received extensive training and guidelines around COVID-19 by the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD).

Hospital management has ensured that our specialists and referring GPs in the area are also aware of our preparedness.

“Life Cosmos Hospital wishes to thank the community of eMalahleni for its ongoing support and encourages everyone to take the necessary hand-hygiene precautions. We continue to provide the highest standard of quality care and will continue to ensure that standard hospital operations continue as normally as possible during this challenging time.”
