N4 and OR Tambo intersection under construction and improvements

The construction works will be conducted in such a manner that there is minimal interference with traffic and pedestrian movement on the affected sections

Emalahleni Local Municipality in partnership with TRAC a subsidiary of SANRAL has embarked on rehabilitation and improvement of the N4 Toll road section and N4/OR Tambo intersection.

The main objective is to allow for ease mobility and accessibility of the National road and the city of Emalahleni whilst ensuring safety of both motorists and pedestrians.

The works are expected to start on 03 November 2020 and completed by June 2021.

N4 / OR Tambo intersection falls within Part 2 of the N4 road rehabilitation contract with the upgrading including construction of auxiliary lanes, widening of the bridge B391 (OR Tambo drive overpass) and slip lanes.

The construction works will be conducted in such a manner that there is minimal interference with traffic and pedestrian movement on the affected sections.

All required and requisite safety precautions, measures and signage will be instituted and adhered to at all material times.

Communities, motorists and pedestrians are urged to observed safety protocols when traversing the intersection and drive safely during the construction period.
