
Two nurses have been suspended from Witbank Hospital after a newborn baby was found in a deep freezer in the hospital.
The MEC for Health in Mpumalanga, Ms Sasekani Manzini visited Witbank Hospital on December 16 and said,” It is unacceptable that we can misplace a fetus and not be able to account for the whereabouts of the body. This matter must be fully investigated and consequence management must apply.”
The woman gave birth to a stillborn on December 11.
When the family returned to the hospital on December 14 to start funeral arrangements they were told to return the next day.
After a search, the family found the baby in the deep freezer.
