Dumping rubbish can be dangerous

When they arrived at the dump site they were approached by three unknown men.

Two vehicles in eMalahleni were hijacked and the vehicles have not been recovered since. Luckily the drivers did not sustain any injuries.

The most recent hijacking took place on Friday, January 15 at approximately 20:15 when a resident from eMalahleni and his nephew went to the dumping site in Duvha Park together.

They were travelling in a white Ford Bantam bakkie to drop off some rubbish.

When they arrived at the dump site they were approached by three unknown men.

The suspects threatened the two in the bakkie with firearms; they took their phones and the bakkie leaving the driver and his nephew stranded at the dumps site. A case of hijacking was opened at Witbank Police Station.

Another case of hijacking was opened at Witbank Police Station on Tuesday, January 12 at 02:30.

Mr Thamsanqa Nyalungu alleged that he was driving when he was approached by two unknown men who were armed with firearms.

They forced themselves into the vehicle which was now parked with the key in the ignition.

The engine was not on at that stage; the suspects drove with Nyalungu along the Old Ogies Road and dumped him in the bushes.

The suspects got away with Nyalungu’s cell phone and drove away with the vehicle, a white Hyundai truck.
