Speed rally kept spectators on their feet
If you noticed more than the usual amount of planes in the sky this weekend, it was because they took part in a rally.

If you noticed more than the usual amount of planes in the sky this weekend, it was because they took part in a rally.
Witbank Airfield hosted a Speed Rally on Saturday, February 13 and many planes took part in this spectacular event.
The way the speed rally works, is the aeroplanes work on a handicap system and the slowest of the planes take off first after they are given the route.

As soon as that aeroplane has taken off, the rest of the planes will follow at their given starting time.
They all fly the same route in a rally. Eventually after an hour or so the aeroplanes all start arriving back at Witbank Airfield together.
The sound of the Harvard echoes through the sky; it’s a sound that gave the spectators goosebumps.
