Sisonke members receive food parcels

A group of elderly people under the leadership of Gogo Bushy Mahlangu were recently presented with food parcels.

A group of elderly people under the leadership of Gogo Bushy Mahlangu were recently presented with food parcels.

The group calling itself Sisonke Service Centre take part in gymnastics, walks, baking cakes, share ideas, tour together and help each other.

They have in the past visited and took part in trips to Gauteng, Durban and other places of interest.

During their trip to Gauteng among the sites they visited was the Hector Pieterson Memorial and Museum situated in Orlando West, Soweto and commemorate the role of the country’s students in the struggle against apartheid.

The two sites are just a few blocks from where 12-year-old Hector Pieterson was shot in 1976.

The group also visited the Constitution Hill in Kotze Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg, near the western end of the suburb of Hillbrow.

Other sites that were visited by the group included Mandela House in Orlando West, Soweto.

They also celebrated their birthday and came together to give moral support to each other.
