Fraudster found guilty
On January 21 a resident from eMalahleni went to Groblersdal’s Labour Department to apply for his UIF as he was not working at that time.
A case of fraud was opened at Witbank Police Station in January this year and after a thorough investigation by the police, the suspect was caught and arrested.

During the application, he was informed that he did not qualify for UIF as he is still working for a certain company.
After the dedicated investigation from Witbank Police, the suspect was tracked down.
The accused, Frans Msindo (38) appeared in court and were found guilty not only for fraud but also for being an illegal immigrant from Mozambique. He was asked to bring his Identification Document to court and was found that he only has a foreign ID.
He was found guilty on count one which was fraud and was fined R3 000 or six months imprisonment.
Msindo was also found guilty on count two which was for being an illegal immigrant and was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment, suspended for five years on the condition that the accused is not convicted for the Immigration Act 13/2020.
The acting station commander Brigadier Sara Mthombeni complimented the relevant detectives who investigated the cases and secured a successful conviction in court.
“All criminals in eMalahleni are warned they will be arrested, prosecuted and sentenced for committing crimes in our city,” she concluded.
