Businesses do get targeted more during month-end because of more cash flow.
On Thursday, March 25 there were a total of four business robberies alone.
In Mandela Drive in the Central Business District (CBD) it is alleged that two males entered a shop and walked straight to the till point.
One of the men then showed that he had a firearm and pushed the employee behind the till away.
The suspects then took the money in the till and a cellphone and left the shop.
In Plumer Street in the CBD it is also alleged that two men entered the shop and robbed it.
The suspects entering the shop went to the cash register, showed the cashiers their firearms, took the money and left the shop; no injuries were obtained during this robbery.
On the Tweefontein Road, it is alleged that shots were fired on a mine for copper cables.
One of the employees was phoned from the control room and was told there is a shooting on the mine.
Upon arrival from where the shooting was reported the employee saw the suspects shooting warning shots while stealing copper cables. The employees were able to find a safe spot to hide from the suspects.
The suspects left with copper cables worth R200 000.
Another business was reported robbed during the late hours of Thursday evening.
A tavern was allegedly the target of four males. They allegedly went into the tavern and pointed the employees with firearms.
The suspects left the tavern with alcohol, money, a cellphone and the taverns keys. No serious injuries were obtained.
On Saturday, March 27 a local business in Pine Ridge was robbed by two men.
Allegedly the owner of the shop was on his way to close the shop when two males entered the shop, one being armed.
The suspects took R500 during the incident.
