They say dynamite comes in small packages; that is Ms Frieda Manana for you

Presently she has managed to have 56 children under her wing, the youngest being six years and the oldest 28 years of age.

Manana is the founder of Phanda Mzansi Modelling Agency. She started the agency way back in 2015, out of nothing but came up with a group of young girls and boys in Vosman.

Her vision was to take the group of teenagers out of the street and get them to do something positive.

She was concerned about drug and alcohol abuse, teenage pregnancy, and other ills in the society.

Apart from the fact that she was not getting any financial support she stood her ground to realise her dream.

Presently she has managed to have 56 children under her wing, the youngest being six years and the oldest 28 years of age. She has hosted fashion shows, beauty pageants, street parades and competitions.

She also has a good heart; she donates clothes to those in need and sanitary towels to girls.

“My vision is to expand Phanda Mzanzi Modelling Agency nationally. I have already started to open another branch at Umkhondo Municipality (Piet Retief). I will be hosting a Miss/Mr Mabola beauty competition involving 28 boys and girls. This is a start of bigger things to come in the future. My heart will always be with the young people because they are the future of the country. They need our support, love and guidance.”

Manana added to say that she wants to unstill self confidence, a believe in themselves and for them to know that education is key. The children are also motivated to know their cultural background.

The Miss & Mr Mabola beauty competition came after her meeting with a well-known local councilor of Mkhondo Municipality which led to the beauty competition.

The event will be joined by well-known public figures like Muzi Vilakazi from Isibaya and Nqobi Liyazi from Idols. The event will take place on June 15.
