Good news for Empumelelweni residents

According to the residents of Empumelelweni refuse is not collected at all and that contribute to the creation of unhealthy and unsafe environments.

In eMalahleni, service delivery quality within local government is perceived as being generally poor.

Poor service delivery has a direct and immediate effect on the quality of the lives of Empumelelweni residents which has led them to not have faith in democracy and politicians.

Integrated Development Plan Nkangala has issued R6 million; the municipality has also supplied R5,5 million for roads to be built.

According to the residents of Empumelelweni refuse is not collected at all and that contribute to the creation of unhealthy and unsafe environments.

“The people of Empumelelweni should play their role by meeting the municipality by paying for services rendered,” said Cllr David Makgetloa.

Residents complained that the water provided is of poor quality.

Cllr Makgetloa said: “The issue of water is fixed; residents of Empumelelweni must not worry about not having water anymore as the problem of not having water will no longer be an issue.”

Cllr Makgetloa added to say that Nkangala Integrated Development Plans (IDP) will provide R6 million to the municipality and R5,5 million for roads to be built.

“A programme from the municipality for fixing street lights not only for Empumelelweni but for the whole of eMalahleni is in the pipeline. The issue of toilets and sewage is beyond my control. What I know is that the municipality is working on building an internal sewer for residents of Empumelelweni. Phase 1 of installing the internal sewer in Extensions 2 and 3 in Empumelelweni is still in progress, but it will soon be done”.

He also mentioned that Cllr Mswati Nkosi is working on changing service delivery and the technical problems for the better.
