Dynamite comes in small packages

Her vision was to take a group of teenagers of the street and get them to do something positive.

She is the founder of Phanda Mzansi Modelling Agency, a dynamic businesswoman but also someone with a good heart who loves to share her knowledge with young people. Frieda Manana started her agency way back in 2015.

Her vision was to take a group of teenagers of the street and get them to do something positive.

She was concerned about drug and alcohol abuse, teenage pregnancy, and other ills in society. Apart from the fact that she was not getting any financial support, she stood her ground to realise her dream.

Presently she has 56 children under her wing, the youngest being six years and the oldest 28-years-old. She has hosted fashion shows, beauty pageants, street parades and competitions.

She also has a good heart; she donates clothes to those in need and sanitary towels to girls.

“My vision is to expand my agency nationally. I have already started to open another branch at Umkhondo Municipality (Piet Retief). I will be hosting a Miss/Mr Mabola beauty competition involving 28 boys and girls. This is the start of bigger things to come in the future.

My heart will always be with the young people because they are the future of the country. They need our support, love and guidance.” Manana added to say that she wants to instil self-confidence, a belief in themselves and for them to know that education is key.

The children are also motivated to know their cultural background.

The Miss & Mr Mabola beauty competition came after she met with a councillor of Mkhondo Municipality which led to the beauty competition.

The event will be joined by well-known public figures like Muzi Vilakazi from Isibaya and Nqobi Liyazi from Idols.

The event will take place on June 15.
