Nokwanda Maseko reaching out for the benefit of the community

She entered Miss Cosmos South Africa and was chosen as one of the finalists.

Pearl Nokwanda Maseko (23) from KwaGuqa Extensions at Empumelelweni is currently doing her diploma in public relations (PR).

She entered Miss Cosmos South Africa and was chosen as one of the finalists.

Miss Cosmos South Africa is a pageant hosted by the Model Charity Cup which is a non-profit company, hosting an internationally licensed beauty pageant for the Childhood Cancer Foundation of South Africa (CHOC) and the Johannesburg Child Welfare (JCW) and both organisations are advocacy partners for 2021.

“I am the only finalist from Mpumalanga and I am participating in charity work. I’m looking for companies and individuals in support of both our advocacy partners, with any form of contributions of supplies, products and donations that can be provided as sponsorship.

We are collecting and buying teddy bears. We hope these teddy bears will form part of the goodie pack each child or orphan receives as a farewell gift when they leave the orphanage to live with their adopted families. For CHOC, we negotiated for these gifts to be distributed to all the children who are undergoing chemotherapy,” said Nokwanda.

She also added to say that there is also a wish list made according to need of the centres where they purchase items such as PPE gloves and masks, cleaning agents for floors and surfaces, nappies for CFU or foster care departments, refuse bags, stationary for training courses, white board markers, projectors, binders, pens and books and sponsorship for all maintenance in the centre.

“I am pleading with my community to help my dream become a reality. I would be really happy if my community could support my journey and be part of making it a success,” concluded Nokwanda.
