She said the executive mayor was working very hard helping out all the units which are all very close to her heart.

In her address, the mayor thanked the sponsors MaxProf and encourages parents to send their children to school. Cllr Malatjie added to say they have now changed the strategy of giving sanitary towels to girls only, but now they also include boys by giving dignity packs to them.

“Issues of gender are very sensitive and boys must be made to feel important because they are important. If we leave them behind, they will alienate themselves. Boys must know that we love them. We need also to cultivate the culture of education in our children because education changes live in families. Our children must understand the importance of applying early at tertiary institutions as the mayor’s office will pay their registration fee once they have the acceptance letters,” said Cllr Malatjie.

The executive mayor thanked the churches for the role they play in taking care of the welfare of the people as that is the same mission and vision they have as the municipality.
