Two-year-old killed in an accident in Phola

All relevant role players were summoned to the scene.

An accident near Somhlolo Sports Ground at Iraq Section in Phola led to the killing of a two-year-old child.

On Sunday, May 23 at about 13:35, Sergeant Laudric Mathebula and Sergeant Katlego Nkosi swiftly responded to a complaint at Phola Clinic where a two-year-old girl was hit by a car.

Allegedly, the driver of the vehicle was parked at a shop near the sports grounds and when he was done, he went back to his car and as he drove he noticed people stopping him. Upon further investigation after stopping, he noticed a child lying on the ground and realised that he accidentally bumped her.

After that incident the mother was informed, they personally took the little girl to the clinic where it was confirmed that she was dead.

All relevant role players were summoned to the scene and the body was taken by the Witbank Forensic Pathologists unit.

A case docket of culpable homicide has been opened at Phola Police Station and will be investigated.
